Dr Houman Hakima

Dr. Houman Hakima is a Senior Space Engineer at MDA Space, Satellite Systems division, where he leads the simulations and analyses of the guidance, navigation, and controls algorithms for the MDA Aurora Satellite platform. Previously, Houman was with
the Robotics and Space Operations division at MDA Space where he worked on the modelling of dynamics and control algorithms for Canadarm2 (officially the Space Station Remote Manipulator System or SSRMS) onboard the International Space Station. He is also a professor (part time) at Seneca Polytechnic where he teaches courses on robotics and mechatronics and is the Founder and Director of Space Engineering Corporation.
He completed a PhD degree in Aerospace Engineering at the University of Toronto Institute for Aerospace Studies (UTIAS) where he developed a novel, small-satellite-based concept for active removal of sizable space debris objects in low-Earth orbit. His
professional work and research experience include space robotics, spacecraft attitude and orbital dynamics and control, space-systems engineering, and space mission definition and scoping. Houman has the Professional Engineer (P. Eng) status in Ontario, Canada.
